Neograft Montclair Montclair Neograft

The Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method used in the NeoGraft procedure provides enhanced results with less downtime.

Montclair, NJ residents in need of NeoGraft turn to New Jersey Plastic SurgeryĀ®, serving patients from Bloomfield, Essex County, Morristown and the surrounding communities.

What is NeoGraft?

NeoGraft is a state-of-the-art procedure that makes use of the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) technique to harvest individual hair follicles rather than strips.

Using an automated tool, our specially trained hair technicians will first remove hair follicles and then put them into a harvesting canister, where they will be carefully preserved until it is time to replace them into the scalp. This allows for a better survival rate for harvested follicles, meaning that in many cases fewer need to be removed.

The Best Candidates for NeoGraft

To be a good candidate for NeoGraft, you should:

  • Possess a sufficient amount of hair available in the donor site(s)
  • Have reasonable expectations as to what you can accomplish through NeoGraft
  • Be in reasonably good health, with no underlying conditions that might be complicated by anesthesia

Preparing for a NeoGraft

In the two-week period leading up to your surgery, you will need to avoid any medications and supplements that might interfere with anesthesia. This includes over-the-counter medications, such as aspirin, acetaminophen, and ibuprofen.

You should also:

  • Stop smoking
  • Refrain from using alcohol
  • Use hairspray and other styling products sparingly

The NeoGraft Procedure

You will begin by lying face down on a table so that hair from the back and sides of your head may be harvested. Once the extractions are completed, you will then lie on your back while they are taken from the harvesting canister and placed exactly where needed. The length of surgery varies, taking between three to eight hours, depending on the degree of hair loss youā€™ve experienced.

Planning Your NeoGraft Surgery

You will need to have someone available to drive you to and from our clinic and to help you around the house for a few days afterwards. Many of our Montclair NeoGraft patients plan to take a week or so off from work to ensure they are able to fully recuperate.

Types of Anesthesia

Since no incisions whatsoever are required, NeoGraft produces little discomfort and can, therefore, be performed using only local anesthesia.

After Your NeoGraft Surgery

Since there are no incisions, less downtime is required than with a traditional hair transplant.

A bandage will be placed on the head and must be worn for 48 hours post procedure. After 48 hours you may remove the bandage at home and wash your hair for the first time.

How Much Does NeoGraft Cost?

NeoGraft is a highly customized procedure, which is why it is not possible to provide you with a cost up front. During your consultation for NeoGraft Montclair plastic surgeon, Dr. DiBernardo will assess the amount of hair loss you have and then tailor a NeoGraft procedure especially for you. At that time, he will be better able to provide you with an accurate cost. For your convenience, we accept cash, check, VisaĀ®Ā®, MasterĀ®Card, American ExpressĀ® and DiscoverĀ®. Financing options are also available via CareCreditĀ®.

Getting Back to Normal Following NeoGraft Surgery

Upon your release, you will be provided with instructions to follow regarding the washing and styling of your hair.
