Dr. Turer is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who specializes in aesthetic surgery. As an aesthetic fellowship-trained surgeon, Dr. Turer received sub-specialty training in all aspects of aesthetics, including surgery of the breast, body, and face. He has also received extensive training in many minimally invasive techniques, such as energy and laser-based treatments. Dr. Turer also serves as an Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Turer completed his undergraduate and graduate education in electrical engineering at Purdue University before obtaining a Master of Science degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Michigan. He graduated from medical school (including being inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society) at the University of Cincinnati.
He then went on to complete general surgery residency at the University of Michigan. Dr. Turer completed his training in plastic surgery at the country's top-rated program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In Pittsburg, he had the opportunity to train under some of the top aesthetic surgeons in the country and developed a passion for aesthetic surgery. He completed sub-specialty training in aesthetic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX.
Dr. Turer is at the forefront of aesthetic technology and patient safety. Using his electrical and biomedical engineering expertise, Dr. Turer developed a smart fat grafting cannula to prevent intravascular injection during gluteal fat grafting.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Turer led a team that developed the “Individual Biocontainment Unit,” a device to protect healthcare workers and patients from aerosolized virus particles. The device received Emergency Use Authorization from the FDA, and teams are readying it for deployment worldwide. He has published multiple studies on aesthetic surgery and technology in the top plastic surgery journals, including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Aesthetic Surgery Journal. He is also the principal investigator of one of the most extensive studies of breast implant safety in the world.
