Fillers & Injectables
As the market for non-surgical cosmetic treatment continues to grow, injectable products are enjoying significant popularity. Different injectables have different purposes, but one aspect is always true: finding an experienced provider is crucial to achieve your optimal results.
Our nurse injector, Astin Civitano, has received training from the makers of leading cosmetic injectables like Allergan, Galderma, and more. She has nearly 15 years of experience performing injections in a plastic surgery setting.
Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Barry DiBernardo supervises all aspects of our non-surgical services. To find the best option for your goals, please call 973-509-2000 today. New Jersey Plastic Surgery welcomes patients from Montclair, Clifton, Newark, and other nearby communities.
Wrinkle relaxer injections interrupt the messages between muscles that are responsible for facial expressions. Relaxing the muscles relieves the lines and wrinkles that form as a result of movements of the face.
Injection options at New Jersey Plastic Surgery for relaxing wrinkles include:
You may hear wrinkle relaxers referred to as “neurotoxins,” but don’t be alarmed by the name. The ingredients in products like BOTOX® Cosmetic are purified and proven safe for localized inhibition of select muscles in the face. In the hands of a qualified, experienced injector, these injectables have low incidences of complications and high rates of patient satisfaction.
Facial fillers consist of a biocompatible material that is strategically injected into the face to replace the volume lost from aging, weight loss, and more. Many different areas of the face are suitable for filler treatment, including:
- The tear troughs (space below the eyes)
- The cheeks
- The nasolabial folds (diagonal lines that form from the nose to the mouth)
- Lip lines
- Lines parallel to the mouth
- Chin wrinkles
There are many different fillers available today, with options such as:
- The Juvederm collection of fillers, including Voluma, Volbella, and Vollure

Juvederm Collection of Fillers
Juvederm is a recognizable name, but there are actually several different products bearing the Juvederm brand.
Each Juvederm formulation consists of hyaluronic acid, or HA. HA molecules play a key role in hydrating the skin, which improves elasticity and youthfulness, but the body produces less HA over time. Juvederm fillers and similar products restore hyaluronic acid to aging areas of the face.
Juvederm XC, Juvederm Ultra XC, and Juvederm Ultra Plus are the “standard” formulations of this filler. They are highly effective for filling fine lines in the face, as well as providing lip augmentation.
The principal difference between these three fillers is how deep beneath the skin treatment is performed. All of the formulations contain lidocaine, a topical anesthetic that eases discomfort at the treatment sites.
The cheeks are among the most prominent features to show signs of age. Loss of volume in the face can result in significant sagging. The formation of folds and wrinkles in the midface can exacerbate this issue, sometimes resulting in a “jowly” appearance.
Juvederm Voluma is unique in its long-lasting efficacy for cheek augmentation. The results can last for up to 2 years.
At New Jersey Plastic Surgery, Dr. DiBernardo, Dr. Trovato, and Astin Civitano, RN, BSN can help you achieve natural-looking results during a quick visit to our office. Voluma injections can even be performed on your lunch hour!
Juvederm Volbella is specially designed for lip augmentation. Starting in your early 20s, you may start to notice “lipstick lines” forming around your mouth. Volume loss can also make your lips start to look thin and drawn.
Injections of Juvederm Volbella in and around the lips restore volume, giving your lip a youthful, plumped appearance. Results can last up to 1 year.
Juvederm Vollure is designed to smooth moderate to significant lines and wrinkles, such as the nasolabial folds. Results of Vollure treatment can last 18 months.
Our nurse injector has the training and experience to perform injections deep within the facial tissue to administer Juvederm Vollure. The injectable treatment is supervised by a board-certified plastic surgeon.
Injectable for the Double Chin
FDA-approved Kybella might make it possible to reduce your double chin without facial surgery. Treatment consists of a targeted series of injections below the jaw line. Deoxycholic acid, the active ingredient, breaks down the fat cells and reduces the profile of your chin region.
If you’re skipping selfies because you’re self-conscious about a double chin, Kybella may be the optimal solution for you. The injectable also provides effective non-surgical neck rejuvenation, which in turn can improve your overall facial profile.
Results are generally visible after two to four sessions spaced a minimum of one month apart. Fat reduction is permanent, but you will need to maintain a healthy lifestyle to prevent the formation of new fat below the chin.
