Do you dislike those ugly blue veins that are appearing on your legs? Varicose veins can be treated successfully at New Jersey Plastic Surgery® with advanced sclerotherapy or vein treatment, for those residents of Bloomfield, Essex County, Morristown and Montclair, NJ, who want to address this issue of unsightly varicose and spider veins.
What is Sclerotherapy (Vein Treatment)?
For the most effective treatment of spider and varicose veins, schedule your consultation now with the professionals at New Jersey Plastic Surgery® to find out if sclerotherapy is right for you to help treat these unpleasant cosmetic issues. Nothing distracts more from your beautiful legs than unsightly veins bulging from below the surface. Sclerotherapy has been in use for over 80 years as a treatment for varicose veins. Veins that respond to treatment will not reappear.
Benefits of Sclerotherapy (Vein Treatment)
Varicose veins are anything but attractive. Varicose veins are caused by the inability of blood to return from the legs back up to the heart and, as a result, blood collects and bulges or distends in the veins, which expands the veins. Your sclerotherapy procedure will involve injecting a solution directly into the vein, which will cause the lining of the vein to swell and stick together, causing the targeted veins to collapse. Your body then absorbs the vein naturally over a period of weeks, and it disappears from your legs. Oftentimes at New Jersey Plastic Surgery®, we find it is beneficial to combine sclerotherapy with laser vein therapy, so schedule your consultation now to learn more about vein treatment options that we have available to you here and let one of our surgeons develop a customized treatment plan personalized to your needs and goals.
What is the Procedure for Sclerotherapy (Vein Treatment)?
During your sclerotherapy procedure at New Jersey Plastic Surgery®, a sclerosing solution is injected into the vein through a micro-needle. The tiny needles work very gingerly and cause very little pain. The sclerosing solution causes the vein to turn white and then gradually disappear. A typical treatment may last for 15–20 minutes and consist of multiple injections. Prior to your procedure, avoid anti-inflammatories, such as aspirin and herbal medications. Many patients experience a burning sensation as the solution is injected into their veins, but for most patients, the great results far outweigh this short-term discomfort.
