Imagine being able to heal yourself, naturally? Now, thanks to platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, you can do just that. Say goodbye to aging skin and continuing hair loss. With PRP therapy, you can direct your body's natural growth factors towards improving your skin's appearance and halting—or even reversing—hair loss. Located in Montclair, NJ, New Jersey Plastic Surgery® is pleased to offer PRP therapy to the residents in and around Bloomfield, Essex County, Morristown and the surrounding communities.
What Is PRP Therapy?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses growth factors, gathered from the platelets in the patient’s own blood, to stimulate healing and collagen production in specific treatment areas. The technique has been in use for decades, treating joint problems and other athletic injuries successfully. Scientists are still learning about how PRP can be used in the body, but two applications have shown clear success:
Hair Loss – PRP can preserve the remaining healthy hair follicles and promote the growth of new hair. When combined with hair transplants, PRP can encourage the growth of thicker, fuller hair.
Skin Rejuvenation – PRP can stimulate the production of new collagen within the skin. This improves the skin texture, tone, volume, and elasticity for a refreshed, younger-looking appearance.
The Best Candidates for PRP Therapy
Strong candidates for PRP therapy are experiencing hair loss, such as male pattern baldness or are looking to reduce the visible signs of aging in the skin, such as crow’s feet or sagging skin. Patients should not have a history of heavy smoking, or drug or alcohol use. Individuals should also be in general good health and have realistic expectations for the outcome of their procedure.
Planning Your PRP Therapy
During your consultation, we will explain how PRP therapy works, answer any questions you may have and customize your PRP therapy for your treatment goals. We are here to help you look as great as you feel!
Preparing for Your PRP Therapy
The procedure is simple and harvesting the PRP is as easy as having blood drawn for a blood test.
The PRP Therapy Procedure
First, we will draw a small amount of blood so we can separate out the PRP, keeping everything sterile for your safety.
For hair loss, we will apply topical anesthesia, stimulate the skin and follicles with a special roller device, then inject the PRP into your scalp. The scalp will be given photodynamic treatment, and an occlusive dressing will be applied.
For skin rejuvenation, we will either inject the PRP for precise applications, such as laugh lines or apply the PRP with a special roller for larger areas, such as the chest and décolletage.
How Much Does PRP Therapy Cost?
The cost of PRP therapy varies for each patient depending on the treatment goals, extent of change desired and other factors. For your convenience, we accept cash, check, Visa®, Master®Card, American Express® and Discover®. Financing options are available through CareCredit® and AlphaeonTM.
After Your PRP Therapy
For both hair loss treatment and skin rejuvenation, avoid sun exposure and skin irritation.
Getting Back to Normal Following PRP Therapy
Since sedation is not used, you may resume your normal daily activities immediately following the procedure.
PRP therapy can halt or reverse both hair loss and the visible signs of aging. If you are interested in PRP therapy and reside in the Bloomfield, Essex County or Morristown areas, contact New Jersey Plastic Surgery® in Montclair, NJ, today to set up your appointment!
