The Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method used in the NeoGraftTM procedure provides enhanced results with less downtime. Montclair, NJ residents in need of NeoGraftTM turn to New Jersey Plastic Surgery®, serving patients from Bloomfield, Essex County, Morristown and the surrounding communities.
What is NeoGraftTM?
NeoGraftTM is a state-of-the-art procedure that makes use of the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) technique to harvest individual hair follicles rather than strips. Using an automated tool, our specially trained hair technicians will first remove hair follicles and then put them into a harvesting canister, where they will be carefully preserved until it is time to replace them into the scalp. This allows for a better survival rate for harvested follicles, meaning that in many cases fewer need to be removed.
The Best Candidates for NeoGraftTM
To be a good candidate for NeoGraftTM, you should:
- Possess a sufficient amount of hair available in the donor site(s)
- Have reasonable expectations as to what you can accomplish through NeoGraftTM
- Be in reasonably good health, with no underlying conditions that might be complicated by anesthesia
Planning Your NeoGraftTM Surgery
You will need to have someone available to drive you to and from our clinic and to help you around the house for a few days afterwards. Many of our NeoGraftTM patients plan to take a week or so off from work to ensure they are able to fully recuperate.
Preparing for Your NeoGraftTM Surgery
In the two-week period leading up to your surgery, you will need to avoid any medications and supplements that might interfere with anesthesia. This includes over-the-counter medications, such as aspirin, acetaminophen, and ibuprofen. You should also:
- Stop smoking
- Refrain from using alcohol
- Use hairspray and other styling products sparingly
Types of Anesthesia
Since no incisions whatsoever are required, NeoGraftTM produces little discomfort and can, therefore, be performed using only local anesthesia.
The NeoGraftTM Procedure
You will begin by lying face down on a table so that hair from the back and sides of your head may be harvested. Once the extractions are completed, you will then lie on your back while they are taken from the harvesting canister and placed exactly where needed. The length of surgery varies, taking between three to eight hours, depending on the degree of hair loss you’ve experienced.
How Much Does NeoGraftTM Cost?
NeoGraftTM is a highly customized procedure, which is why it is not possible to provide you with a cost up front. During your consultation Dr. DiBernardo will assess the amount of hair loss you have and then tailor a NeoGraftTM procedure especially for you. At that time, he will be better able to provide you with an accurate cost. For your convenience, we accept cash, check, Visa®®, Master®Card, American Express® and Discover®. Financing options are also available via CareCredit® and AlphaeonTM.
After Your NeoGraftTM Surgery
Since there are no incisions, less downtime is required than with a traditional hair transplant. A bandage will be placed on the head and must be worn for 48 hours post procedure. After 48 hours you may remove the bandage at home and wash your hair for the first time.
Getting Back to Normal Following NeoGraftTM Surgery
Upon your release, you will be provided with instructions to follow regarding the washing and styling of your hair. To ensure the best possible results, please follow these instructions as closely as possible. If you’re experiencing thinning hair, precise results with little downtime are entirely possible, thanks to the NeoGraftTM procedure.
