Eye Surgery

There are so many reasons why the eyes can become problematic as we age. When gravity takes a toll, we can get excess fat and sagging skin that looks unattractive and can even cause vision impairment. To restore youth and function to the eye area, New Jersey Plastic Surgery offers eye surgery. Located in Montclair, NJ, our office offers eye surgeries to residents in and around Bloomfield, Essex County, Morristown and the surrounding communities.

What is Eye Surgery?

Eye surgery refers to any procedure that corrects the appearance of the eyes. Most typically, these refer to procedures designed to reverse the signs of aging. Eyes are often the first to show the fine lines, wrinkles and sagging that come along with the aging process. Eyelid surgery aims to correct those telltale signs of years past.

Who is a Candidate for Eye Surgery?

Individuals who are unhappy with the appearance of their eyes due to the aging process are the strongest candidates for eye surgery. For some, this is simply because the eyes look tired or sagging compared to their more youthful appearance. For others, this is because the aging process has affected the eyes to a degree where vision is impaired or blinking is uncomfortable due to drooping eyelids.

Types of Eye Surgeries

At New Jersey Plastic Surgery we offer two main options for eye surgery. Dr. DiBernardo believes both of these procedures are extremely effective, safe and beneficial to the patient. He offers eyelid surgery to correct drooping eyelids and nano fat grafting, which allows for the removal of fat in one area and transferring it to another.

  • Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, can rejuvenate the appearance of the eyes. During this procedure excess fat, skin and muscle are removed from the upper and lower eyelids. This procedure can be performed for both cosmetic and functional reasons, depending on the case. Eyelid surgery is not an eye lift, so the brow is not raised during this procedure.
  • Nano Fat Grafting
Nano fat grafting, or micro fat grafting, refers to injecting areas with the patient's own fat. In the eye area, this is especially useful to remedy the look of dark circles and under eye bags. Injecting that area with a small amount of fat restores the eye area to a more youthful, healthy appearance and minimizes the need for makeup.
