Individuals who are experiencing thinning and balding can restore missing hair with a hair transplant that will turn back the hands of time. Residents in Montclair, NJ, or those living in Passaic County and surrounding communities, who desire to replace lost hair with a hair transplant can visit New Jersey Plastic Surgery®.
What is a Hair Transplant?
It is common for individuals with thinning hair to notice hair loss in the front of their scalp first. A transplant restores and stops balding by transplanting your healthy hair to replace the missing or thinning hair. Healthy strands are removed from the back of your head or on the sides of the scalp where they will go unnoticed. The healthy hair follicles are then repositioned in the front of the scalp, in the area that is balding. Men are the most common recipients of hair transplants. However, women who are experiencing thinning may also benefit.
The Hair Transplant Procedure
Anesthesia is administered to prevent pain or discomfort. When the anesthesia kicks in, Dr. DiBernardo begins harvesting healthy hair follicles from within the preselected donor site. Each harvested follicle is then carefully replaced into the patient’s thinning or balding area. The number of hairs being transferred will determine the time needed for the procedure. Each patient is unique, but the transplant of 2,000 hairs will take approximately five or six hours.
Getting Back to Normal Following Hair Transplant Surgery
You should refrain from shampooing your hair for 48 hours following surgery. Light activity may be resumed after three or four days. You may resume your work schedule and engage in more strenuous tasks after one week.
If you see thinning hair or are experiencing light balding in the front of your scalp, a hair transplant can recover and restore your hair and confidence. Men and women residing in Passaic County, NJ, should contact New Jersey Plastic Surgery® in Montclair, NJ, to schedule a consultation today.
