For those who have thinning hair or are balding, a hair transplant can be a beneficial solution to restore lost hair and low self-esteem. Men and women desiring thick, beautiful hair turn to New Jersey Plastic Surgery®, proudly serving patients from Clifton and the surrounding New Jersey communities.
What is a Hair Transplant?
Hair is often lost from the front of the scalp first when hair loss occurs. Hair transplantation transfers healthy hair follicles from the sides or back of the scalp to the front where balding is occurring. Hair transplants are usually done on men. However, women can benefit from them as well.
The Hair Transplant Procedure
Once the anesthesia begins to work, Dr. DiBernardo will start harvesting hair follicles from the donor site. These hair strands are then carefully reintroduced into the treatment area. The length of the entire procedure will depend on the number of hair grafts being relocated.
Getting Back to Normal Following Hair Transplant Surgery
Following transplantation, it is important to wait at least 48 hours before washing your hair. After that, you may return to washing and styling your hair as you normally would. For the first three to four days, you will need to rest. You may slowly resume light activity. However, you may need to wait about a week or more before returning to work or performing strenuous activities.
If you suffer from thinning hair in the front of your scalp, or you are balding, a hair transplant can help restore that full head of hair you once enjoyed. A full head of hair can help you feel younger and increase your self-esteem.
