Thigh Lift

Thigh Lift Surgery

A thigh lift is performed to tuck and contour the upper thighs, usually after significant weight loss. Excess skin and fat in the upper thigh area is a common problem for women and men. Fortunately, with a thigh lift we can remove skin and fat from the area to tighten the upper thighs

Is Thigh Lift Surgery Right for You?

If you have loose skin and fatty tissue in the upper thighs or inner thighs, this procedure is the right solution. You should reach a healthy and stable body weight before surgery and quit smoking at least 6 weeks before the operation.

Surgery is usually performed on an outpatient basis. It can be done under local or general anesthesia. A thigh lift requires about 2 to 3 hours of operating time. When performed in conjunction with other body contouring procedures, it may take longer.

Thigh Lift Techniques

When the procedure starts, your thighs are marked and anesthesia is administered. Once the anesthesia has taken effect, Dr. DiBernardo makes a precise incision in the crease of your inner thigh to remove excess skin. If your thighs are disproportionate because of excess fat, liposuction will be used to slim down the area, a step that can be done before or during your thigh lift. Once the thighs have been sufficiently reduced, the skin is re-draped and sutures are placed to close the incisions.

Recovery Following Thigh Lift Surgery

Recovery time is about 4 to 6 weeks. You will be advised to wear a special elastic compression garment to ensure smooth results. Drains may be placed to remove any fluid that accumulates. These are typically removed within the first week. The day after your thigh lift, Dr. DiBernardo will probably advise you to ambulate, i.e. walk around.
