Buttocks Enhancement
Buttock augmentation is ideal for people with flat, shapeless buttocks. In some cases, it may also be recommended for those who have experienced traumatic buttock injuries and hope to regain lost contour. There are two common methods for these procedures: buttock implants and fat grafting with the Brazilian Butt Lift.
Who can Benefit?
If you are looking to improve your self-esteem and body image by increasing the size and improving the shape of your buttocks, the Brazilian butt lift or butt implants may benefit you. Be sure to discuss what you hope to get from surgery during a consultation with Dr. DiBernardo, so that you can work together to select the approach that is best for you. Candidates for both surgeries should be in good health and have realistic expectations about cosmetic surgery.
How Does Buttock Augmentation Work?
The Brazilian butt lift increases buttock size by transferring excess fat from other parts of the body to the buttocks. The procedure begins with liposuction of the abdomen, flanks or thighs. The fat is then strategically injected into the buttock so as to increase prominence and create aesthetically-pleasing contours.
Buttock implants made of silicone can also be used to enhance the shape of the buttock for those who seek a shapelier figure. No fat harvesting is needed for this procedure, though liposuction may be used to further enhance contour of the area.
For the Brazilian butt lift, the first steps in surgery involve liposuction to remove fat from selected donor sites. Once the fat has been removed, it is separated from other bodily fluids to prepare it for injection. The fat is then injected into select areas in the buttock through a thin cannula. The area is massaged at intervals during injection in order to ensure even dispersal of the fat.
If you are receiving butt implants, an incision will be made in the buttock crease so that the scar is not as visible. Your surgeon will then create a pocket under or on top of the gluteus maximus in which to place the implant.
When Will I See the Results?
Directly after surgery it is necessary that you refrain from exercise for about three weeks. During this time it is important that you wear the compression garment until your swelling as decreased. For those who have undergone butt implant surgery, it can be a good idea to arrange for help around the house for the first days after surgery. If you choose to undergo buttock augmentation, Dr. Dibernardo and his friendly staff can explain all of the post-operative steps to help you prepare for your surgery and recovery.
