Prevelle Silk is an injectable wrinkle filler used for the correction of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth. Like Juvederm and Restylane, Prevelle Silk is made with hyaluronic acid. However, Prevelle is different because it contains a lower concentration of hyaluronic acid and it is prepared with lidocaine to make your injectable treatment more comfortable. What is Prevelle Silk? Prevelle Silk is made of hyaluronic acid, a natural component of the skin that acts as a space filler, hydrator and cell protector. Over time the skin will lose volume and lines will start to become deeper and more noticeable. With a hyaluronic acid filler like Prevelle Silk, we can restore skin volume and correct unsightly folds.
How is a Prevelle Silk treatment performed?
Prevelle Silk is an injectable treatment. Dr. DiBernardo uses a needle of specific size to inject the product beneath your skin. Along with the lidocaine that is contained in Prevelle Silk, Dr. DiBernardo may choose to use a dental block or topical anesthetic prior to your injection. Many cosmetic injections are being done with very minimal pain reported. Immediately after injection, the doctor may need to briefly massage the treated area to ensure smooth results. The area can feels fuller than normal after your treatment, but that should subside quickly.
Who should avoid treatment with Prevelle Silk?
Prevelle Silk is not recommended for people who have a history of allergies to lidocaine or gram positive bacterial proteins. Ask Dr. DiBernardo about other possible risks or side effects associated with Prevelle Silk.
How long do results of Prevelle Silk last?
Results of a single Prevelle Silk treatment only last about 3 months. Patients who want to try an injectable treatment for the first time often consider this relatively short duration to be a benefit. A repeat treatment may be recommended after 3 to 6 months.
Are there side effects I should know about?
The most commonly reported side effects include but are not limited to temporary injection site reactions such as redness, pain, firmness, swelling, bumps, bruising, itching and discoloration. Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature and last for less than seven days.
