What is Skin Cancer?
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common form of non-melanoma cancers. It develops slowly in the basal cells of the deepest epidermal layer. Though it rarely metastasizes, it can cause significant destruction and disfigurement to the skin if neglected.
Squamous cell carcinoma is the second most common non-melanoma skin cancer. SCC also grows slowly, but it appears in the squamous cells of the top layer of the epidermal. These carcinomas occasionally metastasize and can be deadly.
Melanoma, on the other hand, is a malignant form of skin cancer. It affects the part of pigment-producing cells of the skin.
What Causes Skin Cancer?

that put individuals at greater risk for developing skin cancer include:

- Infections
- Genetics
- Fair skin
- Blond or red hair
- Light-colored eyes
What Treats Skin Cancer?
- Curettage
- Surgical excision
- Mohs micrographic surgery
