Hyperhidrosis

What is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is simply excessive sweating. There are two main types of this disorder, primary and secondary. Both types of hyperhidroses affect a person’s emotional, physical and social well-being.

Primary hyperhidrosis is usually held to one area of the body, like the hands or feed, palms or armpits, or face and head. The first onset occurs during childhood or adolescence. Affected individuals experience symptoms only when awake. Symptoms of secondary hyperhidrosis, however, are experienced at night.

Secondary hyperhidrosis occurs as either a focal or generalized disorder and is related to other medical conditions.

Secondary hyperhidrosis:

  • Endocrine disorders
